Luscious Tips for your Wintry Lips

In this cold winter time, your lips can become dry, cracked, sore, split or even worse bleed. My lips in the winter tend to get dry and peel/crack a little bit. To stop and relieve my lips in this frosty cold, there are several products I use.

Now the obvious is to use a lip balm of some sort but that can not always work. There is also so many different types and makes out there, it is hard to find what you need that will work for you. I think the best hydration out there to moisten your lips up is the ever so famous, Vaseline. You can use the regular jars of the stuff or there are tins specially made for lips. The consistency is a little different, being more thinner and easier to apply. Now again there are so many other lip balms like Nivea which do some great alternatives. I reach for Vaseline whenever my lips are dry and I can tell a difference in the next hour but more so the next day. Now thats moisture covered. The next thing to do is to scrub the lips which can be important if you have build up like flaky skin. I've only recently discovered this lip scrub and its delicious too! Its by Lush cosmetics which is a well known brand now. If you have not heard of Lush, look it up! They are against animal testing and promote fresh natural products which are unique and different.

Here's the link: http://www.lush.co.uk/

The lip scrub I use from them is the 'Bubblegum Lip Scrub'. Yes, BUBBLEGUM! It is divine! You apply it by simply getting a small amount on your finger and rub it in to both upper and lower lip. You can then keep rubbing this way or rub your lips together until it dissolves or wipe the excess of when your finished. Guilty...I may have 'accidently' licked it off a couple of times ;) Dont worry the main ingredients is sugar and flavouring but it is not something I would regularly eat haha :) It smoothes my lips a treat and removes some of that flaky dry skin from my chapped lips. Also if you are into lip balms or want one that isnt so thick and sticky, try their 'Snow Fairy Lip Balm'. It gives a slight pinkish tint but again is ever so smelly and yummy :) Their lip balms and scrubs come in other great flavour too, I have my eye on their 'Honey Trap Lip Balm'.

Vaseline, Lush Snow Fairy Lip Balm, Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, Swatch (scrub top, Vaseline middle, lip balm bottom)

If lip balms do not work for you and your lips are in bad condition, try a medicated cream such as 'Blistex' http://www.boots.com/en/Blistex-Cream-5g_1930/ This is the link to it at the store Boots online.

Handy Quick Tips
  • Using a lip balm with SPF in there will protect your lips against the sun or artificial lights in the winter.
  • Drink more! Water really does heal. You will see a difference if you drink up. Plus its great for your skin too, double bonus :)
  • Try not to lick your lips too much, this can help alot.

What are your tips for dry lips??

Review: Garnier, Simple, Soap&Glory Skin Routine

Problem Skin?

Whenever I get a breakout I always go back to these products which really help banish those unsightly minions from my face. For me I don't breakout too often and usually get one or two at a time. However sometimes whether it be the time of the month or too much food indulgence, my skin can be a bit temperamental!

The key products I use is Garnier Pure Active Purifying Toner, Simple spotless skin quick fix cleansing wipes and Soap&Glory Dr Spot.

Garnier Pure Active Purifying Toner

Application
I use this after I have cleansed my skin day and night. I also use it to freshen up my skin when I have no makeup on. I apply it using a cotton pad that you can pick up cheaply, if not then a cotton ball or soft toilet paper folded will do. I make sure I concentrate it in the areas more affected and be careful around the eyes.

Good points
  • It works! I picked this up in the summer 10 and I always buy when I need it.
  • I like the fact that its a stronger toner and really smells and feels like it works on my skin.
  • It helps to reduce the scarring left from existing blemishes and news ones.
  • Deep cleans and mattifies my skin (great for oily skin).
Bad points
  • Could be a bit too harsh for extra sensitive skin or very dry skin.
Good for: oily skin, blocked pored, black heads, combination skin, breakouts/problem skin, budget buyers.
Cost around £5

Simple spotless skin quick fix cleansing wipes

Application
I use these to remove my makeup at the end of the day. One wipe will remove my face makeup and another one for my eye makeup if heavy.

Good points
  • They are soft to use and not at all scratchy which you can get with wipes at times.
  • They remove my makeup at ease in preparation to clean my skin with my cleanser.
  • Cheap, they cost me just over £3 which I think is a steal!
  • No need for an applicator, just use the wipe and then bin it.
  • Natural anti-backterial and spot fighting ingredients - ideal for sensitive skin.
Bad Points
  • None!
Good for: oily skin, blocked pored, black heads, combination skin, breakouts/problem skin, sensitive/dry skin, easy makeup remover, budget buyers.
Cost £3.05

Soap&Glory Dr Spot

Application
I apply this as the last stage at night on my skin. I take a small pea size amount and rub it between two clean finger tips and dab it on the spots I have. I also get a small amount and rub it all around my face as a thin layer over night if my skin is in need of special aid.

Good Points
  • Reduces the size of my spots overnight.
  • Contains the popular salicylic acid ingredient which helps fight against and heal spots.
  • It does not sting like other salicylic acid products.
  • Contains other great ingredients like vitamin A and C and witch hazel.
  • I do not get dry skin with this, ever (The trick is to not use too much).
Bad Points
  • Some skins can react to salicylic acid but its more uncommon.
  • You can get dry spots but this is the healing process of drying the spot out. For better makeup application just make sure you moisturize and exfoliate.
  • If you have very dry skin already, this product might not be for you or use a very small amount for spots only.
Good For: oily skin, blocked pored, black heads, combination skin, breakouts/problem skin.
Cost £7.15

I think this combination of products really work for me and could work for you if you suffer the same thing. In total they cost me just over £15 which I think is a great buy for products that work. Of course I had to go through many products until I found what worked for me but I don't think I will change this routine anytime soon...when those minions start appearing again :)

More info on the products are available at boots.com. Just type the name in boots search bar.

Do you have any of these products? What did you think?

Reb'l Fleur

It is anticipated that sometime in February, the first fragrance of the totally popular right now Rihanna will release 'Reb'l Fleur'. Now I'm sure us here in the UK with get a little later date as usual but hey hoh :) Now I have to say I am a huge fan of Rihanna and her music, supporting her from the beginning of her career. I am excited that she has released a perfum following in the steps of many today including Beyonce who release her fragrance 'Heat' over last Christmas.

Rihanna said of her fragrance smell : “I wanted…something that said ‘Rihanna was here.’ Something delicious and special, a fragrance with subtle hints that linger and leave a sexy memory.”

I think this will be an automatic hit if her music sales are anything to go by. It seems anything Rihanna touches turns to gold...or shall I say platinum :D The bottle is meant to resemble a shoe heel which I think suits Rihanna's sexy image but a rose/flower design bottle may have fitted the smell and origin of the name, which translates to 'Rebel Flower' better perhaps? But I guess Rihanna is no follower and always tries new things whether it be her hair or fashion, which I respect and love her for.

I cannot wait to get my hands on this and to see if it lives up to its hype.

Will you be getting it? What do you think of it?
